For everyone who has found their way here, thanks for your interest and thanks for reading. I'm one week away from leaving for orientation in New York and two weeks from Lima, Peru! Yay!! I'm excited, scared, happy, sad, nervous, anxious, hopeful, anticipating, all of the above as I prepare for my great Peruvian adventure. I've already had to say good-bye to a few friends, which has been hard, but there will be harder goodbyes yet to come. But for now I'm going to enjoy what time I've got left here in Oklahoma with my family and friends and hopefully Iwill get done all that I need to before I leave.
I want to say a quick Thanks! to all those who have donated to my YAV fund, I'm more than half way to my goal, but I will keep everyone updated on that.
I don't have too much to say on this first post, I suppose that I will get used to this blogging thing and I promise my next post will be more interesting.

Chances are if you are reading this blog then you already know me, but just in case if you don't here's a bit about me and why I even have this blog.
My name is Sarah Chancellor and for about a year I will be serving as Young Adult Volunteer in the Presbyterian Church (USA). I will be spending the year in Peru doing volunteer work as I seek to learn and understand God's presence and will in this World. This year will be one of discernment, hard work, and great humility for me. Not only will I be learning a new language (Spanish), but also I will be learning about simple living, economic development, fair vs free trade, Liberation Theology, the impact of globalization, the culture of the Peruvian people, and maybe just little about myself and where I fit into all of this.
I chose to name my blog, Paz de Cristo, which means Peace of Christ. I often end letters and emails with this greeting because to me it is full of meaning. When we greet one another with the Peace of Christ we are recognizing each other as members of the Body of Christ and we are recognizing within each other the Divine spark that resides within us all. Through this recognition we are sharing the peace, the love, that transcends the boundaries of race, religion, culture, nationality, class, orientation, etc. and come together through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Is this making any sense? My whole reason for spending a year in service, and really my whole reason for being, is to share this Peace of Christ with others and to experience that same peace in those who I encounter. Also I really like hugs so Passing of the Peace is great time for me to get and give great hugs! :)
